THE ACT

In 1971, the South Carolina Code of Laws (Title 38, Chapter 31) created the South Carolina Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association Act.

Pursuant to the South Carolina Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association Act, we have a duty to settle claims in accordance with the Act, the policy and South Carolina insurance laws, in a timely manner.

The South Carolina Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association (SCPCIGA) establishes and maintains a service-oriented operation for processing covered claims of insolvent members. SCPCIGA services pending claims by or against South Carolina policyholders of member insurance companies which become insolvent and are ordered liquidated.
